How DJI728 Ltd (trading as National Document Register) collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information, in line with UK data protection law.
Last updated: 18 September 2026.
Who we are
National Document Register is a trading name of DJI728 Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 15307546), registered office 50 Princes Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 1RJ ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for your personal information and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC242588.
The information we collect
- Identity and contact details: your name, address, email address and telephone number.
- The documents you ask us to store, and the personal information contained within them (for example a will, lasting power of attorney, deeds or certificates), together with a record of what we hold and who is authorised to retrieve it.
- Register entries: where documents are registered with us, the name, any previous name, date of birth and address of the person the documents belong to, the type and date of each document, where it is said to be kept, and the name, contact details and relationship of the person who registered it.
- Correspondence between you and us.
- Payment information, which is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive confirmation of your payment and the plan paid for, but never see or store your full card or bank details.
- Website usage data, such as the pages visited and how the site is used (see the cookies section below).
How we use your information, and our lawful bases
- To provide and administer your document storage (to perform our contract with you).
- To keep a secure record of what we hold and to release documents to you or those you authorise (to perform our contract, and to comply with legal obligations).
- To communicate with you about your storage, including renewals (to perform our contract, and our legitimate interest in running our service).
- To keep the register, and to answer searches from executors and personal representatives after a death (our legitimate interests, and those of the person who registered, in keeping a record that can be found when it is needed).
- To contact you about your register entry, including sending your certificate and asking you to check that your entry is still correct (our legitimate interests in keeping the register accurate).
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
- To send you marketing, only where you have consented; you can withdraw consent at any time.
- To respond to enquiries you send us through our website, including registration requests (our legitimate interest in replying to you, and steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract).
Where someone registers on another person's behalf
A person may register documents belonging to someone else, for example a family member, an attorney, or a solicitor or will writer acting for a client. In those cases we rely on our legitimate interests, and the interests of the person concerned, in keeping a record that can be found when it is needed, and we require the person registering to confirm that they have permission or are entitled to register. If you are the person named in an entry, you can ask us at any time what is recorded about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it.
Data we process for professional partners
Where a solicitor or will writer entrusts us with documents, we act as their data processor under a data processing agreement; they remain the data controller.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information. We share it only with our trusted service providers acting on our instructions, a professional partner who introduced you where relevant, or where we are legally required to.
After a death, we may share what is recorded in a register entry with executors, personal representatives, or others with a reasonable interest in the estate, once we are satisfied as to their identity and their interest.
Storage, security and retention
Your documents and data are held securely in the UK, in fireproof, flood-safe, access-controlled and insured storage. We keep your information for as long as we store your documents for you, and for any period afterwards required by law, and then delete or securely destroy it.
Register entries are different. Because the purpose of the register is to make a document findable many years later, we keep an entry until you ask us to remove it, or until we are told that the estate has been administered and the entry is no longer needed. You can ask us to remove an entry at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your personal information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, contact us at info@nationaldocumentregister.com. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk), though we would ask you to contact us first so we can help.
Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses a small amount of storage in your browser to make the site work, for example to remember the choice you make about analytics. This is essential to providing the site you have asked for.
We also use optional analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages people read. Analytics are only switched on if you accept them when the banner appears, and you can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Rejecting analytics does not affect your use of the site.
Our website is built on the Base44 platform, which stores an anonymous session identifier in your browser to measure site usage on our behalf. It does not identify you personally.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example to reflect changes in the law or in how we provide our service. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
